Chimpanzees are in primate species and in Uganda, they are found in Kibale Forest national park, Budongo Forest, Karinzu Forest Reserve, Semulik National Park, Ngamba chimpanzee sanctuary at Ngamba Island, Kyambura Gorge of Queen Elizabeth National Park. In Rwanda the primates can be found in Nyungwe Forest national Park situated in southern park of Rwanda.

In Rwanda a Permit is sold at US$ 750 for reign residents, US$ 475 for East African foreign residents, US$300 for foreigners living / working in Rwanda and 30.000 Francs for Rwandan citizens.

Where can I get Uganda Gorilla permits?

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is responsible for selling permits and to a small extent permits can be got from the park officials at the same amount however, advance booking is recommended because their demand is very high through out the year. Gorilla trekking permits can also be booked through Travel Agents and Tour Operators.

Rwanda Development Board (RDB) sells Rwanda Gorilla permits. You can also be booked through Travel Agents and Tour Operators, and must be in advance because their demand is high throughout the year.

Rwanda Visa must be obtained online before arrival, or from Rwandan consulate in your home country. Rwanda single entry visa is valid for 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.

East Africa Tourist Visa

This costs US$100 and allows milt-entry the 3 of East African countries of Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. The East Africa Tourist Visa can be obtained at any entry points like Airports and boarders in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda and it is valid for 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days.
