Details about Passports:
All visitors to Rwanda are required to be with passports valid for six months from the date of entry. This policy majorly targets all nationals from Australia, Britain, Canada, United States of America and other European countries.
Details about Visas
All nationalities need a visa and need to be obtained in advance. You must apply for this visa online at www.migration.gov.rw.
You’ll need to apply for an Entry Visa on their website (Services tab, Visa) which should take approx 2-5 days to come through. You must print this Entry Facility out to present at the border.
Foreign residents, who need to get a Rwandan Visa, submit their applications to Rwandan Diplomatic Missions of their Country of residence for processing.
In case where we don’t have a Diplomatic Mission/ consulate, foreign nationals request for a visa acceptance letter online, which will be presented on arrival to obtain a visa upon payment of visa fee of $30.
Rwanda visas are required by all nationals from Australia, Britain, Canada, United States of America and other European countries however, nationals of Australia, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States of America can buy their visas on arrival at Kigali International Airport. On the other hand nationals from Canada and other European countries must obtain a visa in advance.
In view of bilateral agreements, nationals of Hong Kong, Philippines, Mauritius, Singapore and the Democratic Republic of Congo may visit Rwanda without a visa for a period up to 90 days. East African residents are completely exempted from Rwanda visa.
Travelers who would like also to visit Kenya and Uganda may find it more useful to apply for an East Africa cross-border joint visa which allows entry into all three countries on a single visa – currently, East African Visa cost US$ 100.
