Editors Inc was established in 1995 by three former South Africa newspaper editors, a retired US Ambassador and a newspaper research specialist. That same year, the first edition of South Africa at a Glance was published.
In March, 2008, Moneyweb Holdings Limited purchased 50% of the equity of Editors Inc.

Moneyweb is a public company listed on the Alternative Exchange (“Alt X”) in Johannesburg. It is an integrated media company that produces independent, high quality investment information. Roughly half of the company’s revenue is generated by its internet properties and the remainder almost equally divided between radio and print. Moneyweb also produces South Africa’s leading English and Afrikaans radio business programmes, Moneyweb Power Hour and Geldsake with Moneyweb respectively , which are broadcast daily nation wide.

The Chairman of Editors Inc is George Trail, a retired career diplomat, who spent most of his career in Africa. He was the United States Consul General in Johannesburg, Deputy US Ambassador in Kenya and Nigeria and US Ambassador to Malawi. He still does occasional speaking and writing on African politics.

Richard Steyn, partner, was editor of the Natal Witness for fourteen years and subsequently editor of The Star. He publishes the South African Travel Guide, is active on a number of boards and foundations and continues to write as a free lance journalist and book reviewer.

The General Manager of Editors Inc is Sherien Desai, who had a wealth of experience in the print media with both the Rand Daily Mail and Business Day in their research departments. Before joining Editors Inc, she was head of the publications department of the South African Foundation.
